Overview

The Evening Grosbeak (Hesperiphona vespertina) is a passerine (order Passeriformes) species of bird (class Aves) in the finch (Fringillidae) family.

Description

A large, heavily built finch with a very thick, large conical bill and short tail. Adult males are yellow and black with a white wing pathc. Feamle and immatures are mostly gray, with greenish-yellow next and flanks, and black and white wings.

Range

Found in forested regions of North America, especially at higher elevations.
